Trends in Roofing That Are Sure to Please
Now that 2014 is here, it might be a good time to start looking at some of the hottest trends in roofing. If you are ready to redo your roof, consider the top three trends that are making their way onto a number a different homes around the area.
Asphalt Roofing
As one of the most popular types of roofing material, asphalt is used in around 80 percent of homes. For 2014, the trend in asphalt roofing is only going to continue expanding as more and more homeowners look to this simplistic type of roofing material. The new type of roofing, laminated asphalt shingles, is going to continue to rise in the number of homes who decide to use this material.
Energy-Efficient and Green Roofs
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that more and more homeowners are opting for energy-efficient and green roofs for 2014. Commercial roofing companies were already making the move toward green roofs for a while now, but it is only recently that homeowners are starting to shift toward this trend as well. According to information from California, as of the first of the year, all of the new commercial buildings are required to have solar-ready roofs. Even though the requirement might only be in California right now, it will begin making its way across the country.
Lighter Colored Roofing
Many people aren’t aware that lighter colored roofing will absorb less of the heat from the sun, which can help to control your cooling and heating costs. This is one of the other growing trends that you will see throughout the year. Pantone has already released its color report for the spring of 2014, which indicates that there is going to be an overwhelming amount of warm neutrals popping up everywhere. Off-white, gray, blue and other neutral colors are going to carry over into the world of roofing, as well as the inside of homes everywhere.
