Hurricane Season is Approaching Is Your Roof Ready?
The summer is fast approaching, and this means hurricane season will be on us before we know it. Granted, the opportunities for hurricanes are slim, but the chance for bad weather is always around in the summer time. Storms can cause damage to your roof. Drew’s Roofing and Home Improvement do NOT recommend you climb onto your roof under any circumstances to check for damage. A damaged roof is dangerous. Leave that to us. Here is what you can do.

Review damage
Once you are sure the storm has passed and it is safe, go outside and get back away far enough so you can see the top of your roof. If you have binoculars, take them for a closer look. Have a pen/pencil and paper handy. You are looking for anything that looks like potential damage. You can snap pictures if you see damage that is significant.
Shingles
Shingle damage is normally pretty clear to see. Drew’s wants you to look for a few things specifically:
1. Missing portions – One or many – it does not make a difference. Be sure to survey the whole roof for shingle damage.
2. Damage – Damage is much harder to see. Look for pieces that may be oddly colored. Again, survey the whole roof.
3. Inside the home – Check for any leaks you may have across the entire house. Be sure to check the non-living areas like closets. Water damage can happen here and not be noticed. Mold and mildew are likely to be there especially in the summer when it is warm and humid.
Please, please. Do not think you can get on YouTube, watch a few videos and learn what to do. We have the tools, experience and insurance to keep ourselves from being hurt. Climbing on a roof without proper gear and understanding is a recipe for a trip to the ER. Call Drew’s instead.
Drew’s wishes all a safe and happy summer. We are always ready to help you with any roofing or home improvement needs.
